Extra Activities

The extra activities on offer include a number of clubs but also other activities.

There are obviously a number of sports clubs on offer but that's not all.  There are science clubs as well as Christian unions, chess clubs and even clubs such as origami!  There is the 'ccf' and 'corps of drums', these are run by Major Brown and in ' corps of drums' you don't even need any musical experience to join!  CCF is basically the forces and you come into school sometimes with army gear on, there is a lot of hard work involved though.

The music is brilliant at KEGS! There
are plenty of clubs and groups to join.  There are strings, brass, junior orchestra, senior orchestra and probably loadz more I cant remember!  There's definitely something for everyone musical. ( The person in the picture is Mr Worrall who's my music teacher, but also helps out with CCF!  He's fun!)

There are probably subjects at KEGS that you wouldn't have done at your old school.  Most of these are interesting though, such as D.T.  In D.T. you design and make wacky stuff! At the moment I'm designing and will eventually make a real chocolate bar, no that's cool!  You name it, make the bar with the real ingredients and even the wrapper!

I.T. is also brilliant. 'You learn how to make websites', use loadz of different programs and do useful things as well that help when using I.T. daily and in other subjects.  One of the things I did was  to use photshop elements and photo filtre to make a picture about my opinion of KEGS.  Below is what I did.

I wrote this to explain it:

"When I was making this artwork I was thinking of my time at school.  The basketball hoop at the top of the stairs is trying to show that the target is always at the top and the stairs are distorted because it isn’t easy to get to the top.  The reason for my head as a basketball is because I am trying to get to the top but I haven’t made it yet.  Me at the sides of the hoop is symbolising people who are at the top and are looking down on me, watching my every move.  Me at the bottom symbolises me arriving at the school thinking its going to be easy, but I was wrong which is why it is all distorted as sometimes it gets confusing."
